Dr. Naiem Nassiri is a board-certified vascular and endovascular surgeon of international renown for his expertise in the treatment of vascular anomalies, malformations, and complex aortic disease. As the Founding Director of The Vascular Care Group’s Center for Anomalies and Rare Entities (TVCG CARES), International, Dr. Nassiri leads a world-class program dedicated to providing innovative and highly specialized minimally invasive care for patients with rare and challenging vascular conditions. Prior to founding TVCG CARES, he was a distinguished faculty member at Yale University, where he played a pivotal role in advancing the treatment of vascular malformations and endovascular aortic disease. His extensive contributions to the field have placed him at the forefront of surgical and interventional innovation, particularly in the development of novel, minimally invasive strategies for the management of complex vascular anomalies. He provides comprehensive surgical, medical/hematological, and interventional therapies and is a true “vascular anomalist” in that he is able to tailor the appropriate therapy – or combinations thereof - to the appropriate patient and condition without being limited by a single given specialty’s scope of practice.
Dr. Nassiri is widely recognized for his groundbreaking work in the vascular malformations space, where his expertise has led to significant advancements in both diagnosis and treatment. He has published extensively on the subject, with a substantial body of peer-reviewed research, covering topics such as multimodal endovascular treatment of both high- and low-flow vascular malformations, direct stick embolization, development of novel embolization techniques and embolotherapeutic agents, novel gene mutation discoveries, delineation of algorithms for management of syndromic vascular malformations such as Klippel-Trenaunay and CLOVES Syndromes, and practice management guidelines. As a principal investigator (PI) on multiple national clinical trials—including several first-in-human studies—Dr. Nassiri has been instrumental in bringing cutting-edge therapies to patients with challenging vascular conditions. His research has contributed to the refinement of endovascular embolization strategies, sclerotherapy techniques, focused therapeutic ultrasound strategies, and hybrid approaches for treating vascular malformations, offering new hope to patients who previously had limited treatment options.
