While referrals can be helpful for insurance processing and continuity of care, they are not mandatory unless specifically required by your insurance plan. We encourage you to begin the consultation process by completing our new patient registration form, and our team will guide you through any necessary steps to ensure optimal insurance coverage and a smooth scheduling experience.
International patients begin by determining whether they are able to travel to our flagship office in Darien, Connecticut, where all treatment is provided. If the patient can travel, we assist with coordinating an in-person consultation with Dr. Nassiri.
If travel is not immediately possible, we offer a telehealth video consultation as an initial step to review the case, provide education, and determine potential treatment plans. However, all procedures and interventions must be performed in person at our Darien office.
To get started, patients complete our New Patient Registration Form online and upload relevant medical records (imaging, prior consults, referrals, clinical photos, and insurance information). Once reviewed, our care coordination team reaches out to schedule the appropriate type of consultation.

Our team supports out-of-state and international patients with a focus on seamless coordination before their visit and continued guidance afterward. Prior to travel, we assist with insurance eligibility review, medical record collection, and scheduling. If needed, we begin with a telehealth consultation to assess the case and determine the best approach for when the patient can be seen in person.
Because all treatment takes place exclusively at our Darien, CT, office, our team ensures patients are well-prepared prior to arrival. After treatment, we remain in close contact through follow-up telehealth visits, sharing care plans with referring physicians, and being available for any questions or concerns as patients return home.
Our goal is to ensure that every patient, regardless of distance, receives comprehensive, personalized care with continuity and compassion.

We are currently the first Center in the world to offer and study the use of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for non-invasive, completely extra-corporeal ablation of vascular malformations under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Nassiri. In addition, Dr. Nassiri has been a pioneer in direct intralesional delivery of medications that counteract the mutations implicated in the development of vascular malformations, and he has published the first in-human clinical experience with this novel technique for low-flow vascular malformations.
We, at TVCG CARES, aim to be your home base for any and all issues pertaining to your vascular anomaly, ranging from complex surgical and interventional treatment of life- or organ-threatening vascular malformations to the psychosocial issues that may arise as a result of your lesion(s). We are an outpatient-based comprehensive vascular anomalies practice with dedicated teams across multiple hospitals and in-patient facilities in greater New England. TVCG CARES is led by Dr. Nassiri, a true vascular anomalist who is a surgeon and an interventionalist by training, and is therefore not limited by the scope of practice of a single specialty in caring for patients with a wide range of vascular anomalies.
The most common errors and misdiagnoses encountered in the realm of vascular malformations are nomenclature-related and the use of erroneous terminology when describing a given lesion. This is a persistent problem going on for decades that causes much confusion, chaos, and ultimately can and has led to misdiagnoses and mistreatments. Having served on the ad-hoc Committee for Classification and Categorization of vascular anomalies, Dr. Nassiri aims to educate patients, families, and referring providers on the importance of proper terminology and nomenclature, knowing that the proper terminology leads to proper diagnosis, and ultimately the right treatment, and the right management and expectation.
